The Washington Municipal Treasurers Association was founded in 1983 as a non-profit association. The elected 12-member Executive Board strives to maintain programs directed toward achieving the following goals of the organization:

CONFERENCE

The annual conference is held in April at Campbell's Lodge in Chelan. The roundtable format provides all attendees the opportunity to acquire and exchange information.

EDUCATION

Workshops are scheduled periodically for training and certification in cash handling.  In addition, seminars are held periodically on emerging issues.


NEWSLETTER

The Money Clip is a quarterly publication which provides information and education articles.


SCHOLARSHIPS

The WMTA has a separate scholarship fund that is supported by an annual auction of donated items, which provides monetary awards toward workshop/seminar registration and conference fees for the WMTA and APT US&C yearly conferences.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION

This program, offered by Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada establishes standards that recognize the professional achievement of treasury officials.  Members who meet these standards in education and experience are recognized as a Certified Public Finance Administrator (CPFA).


INVESTMENT POLICY CERTIFICATION

The Investment Policy Certification program provides the development and adoption of investment policies through professional recognition of public treasurers whose policies have met the standards of excellence.


DEBT POLICY CERTIFICATION

The Debt Policy Certification program is designed to provide professional guidance and assistance in developing or revising your debt policy. Your debt policy helps protect your debt officers and entity, and gives your hired professionals and you clear direction of your debt goals.
